Electrical Safety Regulation

Although there are many common aspects of electricity regulation, electrical safety matters are regulated separately by each Australian state, territory and New Zealand. Each of these jurisdictions, therefore, has their own laws about electrical safety and their own regulators.

Laws and Standards

Each Australian state, territory and New Zealand administers laws relating to electricity safety, supply and efficiency. This legislation also creates systems such as electrical licensing and equipment approvals. Standards, such as Australian/New Zealand standards, are generally created through Standards Australia.
